Brett is currently in his 12th year as a student of the Fire Service. His motto is, “When you stop learning or seeking knowledge, your profession will pass you by.”
He previously held a position with Nations Rent, a construction equipment rental company, where he served as the “If I can’t find it, it doesn't exist” resource point of contact for inside and outside sales personnel.
Brett spent 9 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He was stationed mostly on the West Coast at Camp Pendleton. He was attached to Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron HMLA-169 as well as various ground support units. He honed his EMS skills providing care not only on the ground but in the air.
Brett has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an Associates in Fire Science.
Brett has developed programs currently in use for new hires and continuing education for Rowlett Fire Department. He was the lead medic for Rowlett’s SWAT team and brought combat experiences to the training scenarios. Brett has also served as a classroom instructor and/or field evaluator for Navarro College Fire, EMT and Paramedic programs.
He began his career as a Firefighter/EMT and has promoted up to the rank of Captain. He is an American Heart Association certified instructor for 6 disciplines and will be adding a 7th in the summer of 2018. He is currently in the process of becoming a Red Cross and OSHA 10/30 instructor as well.
